In a candid revelation, former Ghanaian international Kevin-Prince Boateng has spoken about his long-standing strained relationship with his half-brother, Jérôme Boateng, a former German international. Despite their shared history as the first brothers to face each other in a FIFA World Cup match, Kevin-Prince disclosed that their bond has always been distant.
“We never had a good relationship because we were very opposite, like he was very competitive over me,” Kevin-Prince stated, highlighting the contrasting dynamics between the siblings. He further elaborated on the emotional distance during their World Cup encounter, describing their handshake as “the coldest handshake in the world.”
Reflecting on his feelings, Kevin-Prince admitted to harboring envy towards Jérôme’s achievements. “I also apologized, in case I ever felt envious or failed to acknowledge his achievements, but we still lack a connection between us,” he confessed.
Despite his efforts to mend the relationship, Kevin-Prince acknowledged that a meaningful bond remains elusive. “Even after apologizing, we still don’t have a connection,” he noted, emphasizing the persistent emotional gap between them.
Jérôme Boateng, who recently retired from professional football, has also addressed their relationship. He confirmed that Kevin-Prince apologized for past statements made out of envy, but added that they are not currently in contact.
