Germany international Karim Adeyemi has described his move to Barcelona as a dream come true, revealing that head coach Hansi Flick played the decisive role in convincing him to join the Spanish champions.
The 24-year-old winger was officially unveiled by Barcelona after completing his transfer from Borussia Dortmund, signing a contract that will keep him at Camp Nou until June 2031. The Catalan club confirmed the deal after reaching an agreement with Dortmund reportedly worth an initial €22 million plus performance-related add-ons, while the Bundesliga side retained a percentage of any future transfer profit.
Speaking during his presentation, Adeyemi could not hide his excitement about joining one of football’s most decorated clubs.
“I’m really excited. I feel like I’m going to play for the biggest club in the world. Everyone supports Barcelona, and it’s an honour for me,” the German international said.
He also made it clear that Flick’s influence proved decisive in his decision.
“Hansi Flick is the main reason I’m here. I’m ready to help in any way he asks.”
Adeyemi’s relationship with Flick dates back to the Germany national team, where the Barcelona manager handed the forward his senior international debut. During his unveiling, the winger revealed that the pair held positive conversations throughout the transfer process, giving him confidence that Barcelona was the right destination.
“From the first moment we had very positive conversations. I trusted him from the very first second, and he clearly explained what this club needs, what the fans expect and what the team requires,” Adeyemi said.
The former Borussia Dortmund attacker also pledged to be versatile in Barcelona’s frontline, insisting he is willing to play wherever Flick needs him.
“I’m ready to help in any position in attack. My objective is to contribute to the team, improve every day and compete for every trophy available,” he added.
Barcelona identified Adeyemi as one of their priority attacking reinforcements after restructuring their forward line this summer. His arrival follows the signing of Anthony Gordon, with the club looking to inject greater pace and versatility into its attack under Flick’s leadership. Reuters reported that Adeyemi becomes Barcelona’s second major attacking acquisition of the transfer window as the club prepares for the 2026–27 campaign.
The German forward arrives in Spain after three seasons with Borussia Dortmund, where he scored 36 goals in 146 appearances across all competitions following his move from Austrian side Red Bull Salzburg in 2022. Widely regarded as one of Europe’s quickest attackers, Adeyemi previously recorded one of the Bundesliga’s fastest sprint speeds and established himself as a regular in Germany’s national team setup.
Adeyemi also paid tribute to Barcelona’s rich footballing history, admitting he grew up admiring club legends Lionel Messi and Ronaldinho while expressing excitement about linking up with the current generation of stars, including Lamine Yamal.
Barcelona will hope Adeyemi’s pace, direct running and tactical flexibility provide another dimension to Flick’s side as the La Liga champions prepare to challenge on multiple fronts, including defending their domestic crown and mounting another serious bid for UEFA Champions League glory.
