“De Laurentiis Said No” — Osimhen Opens Up on Blocked Juventus Transfer

By Kazeem Ajibola Shoyebo

Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen has revealed that his dream move to Juventus was stopped by Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis despite serious negotiations.

The Nigerian forward confirmed that Juventus made a determined effort to sign him, but Napoli refused to approve the transfer.

“Juventus were keen to bring me in and Giuntoli put forward an offer to make it happen,” Osimhen said.

“But President De Laurentiis decided not to let me join them.”

Osimhen admitted that Juventus’ approach carried enormous weight because of the club’s global reputation.

“Juventus are a massive club. When they approach you, it’s something you have to seriously consider,” he said.

Napoli’s decision reflected both Osimhen’s importance and the club’s unwillingness to strengthen a direct rival.

At the time, Osimhen was the club’s most valuable player, having just led them to their first Serie A title in over three decades.

The blocked move highlights the intense transfer battles behind the scenes during Osimhen’s final period at Napoli, where his future became one of the biggest stories in European football.
