Dream Start! Semenyo Wins Premier League Player of the Month Weeks After Joining Man City

Antoine Semenyo has described winning the Premier League Player of the Month shortly after joining Manchester City as a “brilliant moment” in his career, following a strong start to life at the club.

The Ghana international, who moved to City from AFC Bournemouth in January on a long-term contract, said the award reflects the positive impact the club environment has already had on his development as a player.

“This is a brilliant moment for me. To win Premier League Player of the Month so soon after joining City is something I’ll never forget,” Semenyo said in a statement released by the club.

The forward added that the transition to the Etihad Stadium has been smooth since his arrival, crediting teammates and the coaching staff for helping him settle quickly into Premier League football with the reigning English champions.

“It’s been such an amazing start to life at this club,” he said. “I’m learning so much every day and honestly feel I’m already a better player.”

Semenyo joined Manchester City in January 2026 in a deal worth around £62.5 million and signed a five-and-a-half-year contract that runs until 2031. (His arrival followed an impressive spell at Bournemouth that attracted interest from several top European clubs.

Since moving to City, the versatile attacker has quickly established himself in the squad under manager Pep Guardiola, contributing key performances in league and cup competitions while helping the team remain competitive in the latter stages of the season.

Reflecting on his early months at the club, Semenyo said the supportive environment has allowed him to remain focused on improving his game.

“I’ve been made to feel welcome from day one, been able to stay focused on the pitch and do my best,” he added.

Despite the individual recognition, the 26-year-old stressed that his priority remains contributing to the team’s objectives during the decisive closing weeks of the campaign.

“My focus now is on continuing to improve and helping City achieve the best possible results,” he said. “We have so much to play for and I’m really excited about this final period of the season.”

Semenyo’s rapid impact since arriving at Manchester City has underlined the club’s decision to invest heavily in the forward as they aim to compete for major domestic and European honours in the months ahead.
