Ghana international footballer Thomas Partey appeared at Southwark Crown Court on Monday, where he pleaded not guilty to two additional counts of rape, as his ongoing legal case in the United Kingdom continues to expand.
The new allegations relate to incidents said to have occurred on a single day in December 2020**, involving a fourth complainant.
These latest charges bring the total against the former Arsenal F.C. midfielder to seven counts of rape and one count of sexual assault, according to prosecutors.
Partey, 32, has previously denied all earlier allegations, which relate to separate claims involving multiple women between 2020 and 2022.
During Monday’s hearing in London, he formally entered not guilty pleas to the two new charges, maintaining his consistent position since the case began.
His defence lawyer, Jenny Wiltshire, reaffirmed that stance, stating:
“Thomas Partey continues to deny all charges against him. He has cooperated with the police throughout. Given there are ongoing legal proceedings, there will be no further comment.”
The case is part of a wider investigation that has been ongoing for several years and has drawn significant attention due to Partey’s profile as an international footballer who previously played in the English Premier League.
Legal proceedings are expected to continue in the coming months, with further hearings scheduled as the court prepares to examine the full scope of the allegations.
Under UK law, defendants are entitled to a presumption of innocence until proven guilty in court.
