Mozambique’s national football team, the Mambas, have received significant financial incentives ahead of their Round of 16 match against Nigeria in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
President Daniel Francisco Chapo has pledged a bonus of 500,000 meticais (approximately $7,824) to each player and member of the coaching staff if they secure a victory over Nigeria and advance to the quarterfinals.
In addition, the Mozambique Football Federation (FMF) has announced that each player will receive $23,500 if the team goes on to win the tournament.
Mozambique qualified for the knockout stage after finishing third in Group F, marking their first advancement beyond the group stage in AFCON history.
The Mambas are set to face Nigeria’s Super Eagles on Monday, January 5, 2026, at the Complexe Sportif de Fès in Morocco.
These financial incentives aim to motivate the team as they seek to achieve a historic victory and continue their impressive run in the tournament.
