Semi Ajayi made his long-awaited return from injury on Sunday, featuring for Hull City A.F.C. in their 3–1 defeat to Millwall F.C. in the EFL Championship.
The Nigerian international played the full 90 minutes, marking his first appearance of 2026 after recovering from the injury he sustained while on international duty with the Nigeria national football team during the Africa Cup of Nations.
Despite Ajayi’s return strengthening Hull’s defence, the Tigers were unable to avoid defeat as Millwall secured all three points in the Championship encounter.
Ajayi’s comeback will nevertheless come as a boost for Hull City as the defender resumes club duties following his spell on the sidelines. The 30-year-old centre-back had been unavailable for several weeks after picking up the injury while representing Nigeria at the continental tournament earlier this year.
His return also offers encouragement for Nigeria ahead of upcoming international fixtures, with the experienced defender regaining match fitness after his injury lay-off.
Hull City will now look to bounce back in their next league outing as they continue their Championship campaign, with Ajayi expected to play a key role in the team’s defensive setup.
