Al Hilal Close In on Martinelli as Arsenal Exit Moves Towards Completion

Al Hilal are closing in on the signing of Arsenal winger Gabriel Martinelli, with the Brazilian given permission to travel to Saudi Arabia as the final stages of a deal worth more than €65 million are completed.

The proposed transfer has advanced significantly in recent days. Reports from multiple outlets indicate that Arsenal and Al Hilal have reached an agreement in principle on a package exceeding €65 million, including add-ons, while Martinelli has given the Saudi club the green light to proceed. A medical has reportedly been scheduled as the final formalities are completed.

The 25-year-old has reportedly been authorised to travel to Saudi Arabia, with the medical expected to precede the completion of the transfer. CBS Sports reports that Arsenal are guaranteed approximately $67.5 million, with a further $9.3 million potentially available in add-ons.

Martinelli’s departure would bring an end to his seven-year Arsenal career. The Brazilian joined the Gunners from Ituano in 2019 and developed into an important attacking player under Mikel Arteta, making almost 200 appearances for the club and contributing more than 40 goals.

The transfer also comes amid a significant reshaping of Arsenal’s attacking options. The club has been linked with a move for Atlético Madrid forward Julián Álvarez, while reports indicate that Martinelli’s potential sale could help provide the financial flexibility for further attacking recruitment.

Al Hilal’s interest in Martinelli is part of a wider attempt to strengthen their attacking options. Reports have also linked the Saudi club with Ollie Watkins, although the Martinelli transfer appears to be considerably further advanced.
