Curtis Jones to Inter: Liverpool Agree €35m Package for England Midfielder

Inter Milan have reached a verbal agreement with Liverpool to sign England midfielder Curtis Jones for a €35 million package, with an agreement also understood to have been reached with the player. A medical is now being planned as the move approaches completion.

The agreement represents the culmination of Inter’s sustained pursuit of the 25-year-old, with the Italian champions having previously made several approaches for the Liverpool academy graduate. Earlier proposals, including a reported €25m offer, were rejected as Liverpool valued Jones significantly higher.

According to the latest reporting, the €35m figure is a package fee, equivalent to approximately £30m, rather than necessarily a guaranteed upfront payment. Fabrizio Romano reported that the clubs now have a verbal agreement and that the player’s agreement is also in place, with the medical the next major step.

Jones is set to bring an end to a 16-year association with Liverpool, having joined the club’s academy at the age of nine. He progressed through the youth system before making his first-team debut in 2019 and becoming an established member of the senior squad.

The midfielder’s departure comes with Jones entering the final year of his Liverpool contract. The Reds had previously valued their homegrown player closer to €40m, but negotiations have ultimately moved towards the €35m package.

For Inter, Jones offers tactical versatility and Premier League experience as Cristian Chivu continues to reshape his midfield. His potential arrival also follows Inter’s decision to facilitate Davide Frattesi’s move to Lazio, creating space for another midfielder in the squad.
