Enzo Maresca’s tenure as Chelsea’s head coach appears increasingly uncertain, with reports indicating a potential departure following a breakdown in relations with the club’s hierarchy. While no official statement has been released by Chelsea FC, multiple sources suggest that Maresca’s position is under serious threat.
The Italian tactician, who took over at Stamford Bridge in July 2024, has reportedly grown frustrated with perceived limitations imposed by the club’s management, hindering his ability to implement his footballing philosophy effectively. This tension was exacerbated after Chelsea’s recent 2-2 draw with Bournemouth, where Maresca notably skipped the post-match press conference, citing illness, a move that some insiders interpret as a sign of deeper discontent.
Chelsea’s performance on the pitch has also come under scrutiny, with the team securing only one win in their last seven Premier League matches, leaving them 15 points adrift of league leaders Arsenal. Fans have voiced their dissatisfaction, particularly criticizing Maresca’s tactical decisions, such as the substitution of key players during crucial moments.
