Messi Makes History as Inter Miami Fight Back to Draw Austin in Stadium Opener

Inter Miami CF came from behind to secure a 2-2 draw against Austin FC, with Luis Suárez scoring a late equalizer after a historic goal from Lionel Messi in their new stadium opener.

The result saw Inter Miami twice respond to deficits, ultimately forcing the draw in a dramatic and symbolic night for the club.

Austin struck first through Guilherme Biro in the 6th minute, registering the first goal at the newly opened stadium.

Inter Miami responded quickly, as Lionel Messi equalised in the 10th minute, heading home to score the club’s first-ever goal at the new venue, right beneath the “Leo Messi Stand.”

The visitors regained the lead in the second half when Jayden Nelson scored in the 53rd minute, putting Austin back in control and silencing the home crowd.

With time ticking away, Inter Miami pushed forward relentlessly in search of another response.

Their persistence paid off in the 82nd minute, when Luis Suárez found the equaliser, ensuring Inter Miami forced the game to a draw after trailing twice.

The late goal capped a determined comeback and denied Austin a famous away victory.

Beyond the result, the spotlight remained on Messi: 95 matches, 83 goals and 43 assists.

His goal not only levelled the match early on but also marked a historic first in Inter Miami’s new stadium, further cementing his legacy at the club.

The Argentine icon continues his march toward the 1,000 career goal milestone, now just 97 goals away.
