José Mourinho has lavished praise on Jude Bellingham following the midfielder’s influential performance in Real Madrid’s dramatic 3–2 UEFA Champions League victory over AEK Athens, describing the England international as a uniquely complete player.
Bellingham scored Madrid’s first equaliser in Wednesday’s encounter, helping the Spanish giants recover from two deficits before Federico Valverde’s 92nd-minute winner secured all three points in Athens.
Speaking after the match, Mourinho insisted that Bellingham possesses a combination of qualities rarely found in modern midfielders, highlighting his work rate, leadership, ambition and attacking contribution.
“He is a unique player. There isn’t a midfielder in the world like Jude. He is complete at every level. He is an absolutely extraordinary player,” Mourinho said.
The Portuguese manager admitted he was running out of words to describe the 23-year-old’s performances, adding that Bellingham consistently delivers even when he is not at his spectacular best.
“He always shows hard work, leadership, ambition, quality, attacking runs and goals. He is an extraordinary player,” Mourinho added.
