Tottenham Hotspur have officially completed the signing of Brazilian winger Sávio from Manchester City, bringing an end to his two-year spell at the Etihad Stadium.
The Premier League clubs confirmed the permanent transfer on Tuesday, with Tottenham welcoming the 22-year-old Brazil international as their latest attacking addition under head coach Roberto De Zerbi.
Sávio arrives in north London after making 84 appearances and scoring seven goals for Manchester City. He was part of City’s squad that secured a domestic cup double this year, adding further silverware to his growing résumé.
His breakthrough came before his move to City, during a standout loan spell with Girona in 2023/24. He scored 11 goals in 41 appearances as Girona finished third in La Liga and qualified for the UEFA Champions League for the first time in the club’s history.
Tottenham manager Roberto De Zerbi welcomed the Brazilian’s arrival, describing him as a player with energy, imagination and quality in wide areas, while highlighting his ability to attack defenders and change matches through his creativity.
Sávio also revealed that joining Tottenham was a move he had wanted for some time, saying he was delighted to finally make the switch and work with De Zerbi.
“It’s taken a while but I’m very happy to be here. It’s a wonderful opportunity at a brilliant club with one of the best managers in the world.”
The Brazilian has been handed the No. 17 shirt at Tottenham. While the clubs have not officially disclosed the financial terms, reports from British media put the deal at an initial £75 million, with a further £10 million available in add-ons. Sky Sports reports that £5 million of the potential bonuses are effectively guaranteed, meaning City’s eventual receipt could reach at least £80 million.
The reported £75 million initial fee would make Sávio’s departure a record sale for Manchester City, surpassing the reported £82 million package for Julián Álvarez when the potential add-ons are included.
For Tottenham, the move represents another major investment as De Zerbi continues to reshape his squad. For Sávio, it offers the opportunity for a more prominent role and a fresh platform to develop his considerable attacking potential.
