Victor Osimhen continued his blistering start to the 2026/27 Turkish Süper Lig season on Saturday, scoring as Galatasaray defeated Göztepe 3-2 at RAMS Park to claim their second consecutive league victory.
The Nigeria international was central to Galatasaray’s comeback after Göztepe had taken an early lead through Novatus Miroshi. Davinson Sánchez restored parity in the 33rd minute before Gabriel Sara put the champions ahead after receiving a superb backheel from Osimhen.
Osimhen then added Galatasaray’s third goal from the penalty spot in the 63rd minute after a VAR review awarded the hosts a spot-kick following a challenge involving the striker. Göztepe responded almost immediately through Juan Santos, setting up a tense final quarter-hour.
The Nigerian appeared to have scored again shortly afterwards, but the effort was ruled out for offside following a VAR review. Galatasaray nevertheless held on for all three points.
The victory extended Galatasaray’s unbeaten start to the campaign after a 2-2 draw with Arca Çorum on the opening weekend and a 4-0 victory away to Erzurumspor in their second fixture.
Osimhen entered the Göztepe match as one of the early leading scorers in the division, having already found the net four times in his opening two league appearances.
His latest goal therefore takes his league tally to five goals in three appearances, while his involvement in Sara’s goal further underlines his influence beyond simply finishing chances.
