U.S. Soccer has renewed the contract of men’s national team head coach Mauricio Pochettino, extending his tenure as the federation looks to build on recent progress and strengthen its long-term vision for the men’s program.
The renewal also keeps Pochettino and his coaching staff at the center of U.S. Soccer’s broader technical development strategy. Beyond the senior men’s national team, the coaching staff will contribute to the federation’s youth programs ahead of major international competitions, including the FIFA U-17 World Cup, FIFA U-20 World Cup and the 2028 Olympic Games, which will be hosted in the United States.
U.S. Soccer President Cindy Parlow Cone said the decision reflects the federation’s confidence in the culture established under Pochettino’s leadership and its desire to maintain continuity across the men’s national team structure.
“Mauricio has built a culture where players trust the group, trust the process and trust each other,” Parlow Cone said. “We saw the impact of that belief in the way the team grew, competed and performed on the world’s biggest stage. That culture, and the staff who helped build it, are exactly what we want to continue investing in for the Men’s National Team now and for the future.”
She added that the federation also expects Pochettino and his staff to play a significant role in developing talent throughout U.S. Soccer.
“We are also excited about the experience and perspective Mauricio and his staff can bring across U.S. Soccer as we strengthen our pathways and seek to impact the broader soccer landscape in the United States,” Parlow Cone said.
The contract extension comes as U.S. Soccer prepares for a busy cycle of international competitions, with the men’s national team aiming to build momentum following its recent Gold Cup campaign while laying the foundation for future success at both the senior and youth levels.
