Ghanaian international Prince Owusu has continued his impressive rise in Major League Soccer after being named CF Montréal’s Most Valuable Player for the 2026 season, retaining the prestigious Giuseppe-Saputo Trophy for the second consecutive year.
The Canadian club officially announced the recognition, rewarding the striker for another outstanding campaign in which he remained one of its most influential attacking players.
Owusu becomes only the second player in CF Montréal’s MLS history to win the Giuseppe-Saputo Trophy in consecutive seasons, joining former Argentine star Ignacio Piatti, who also enjoyed a remarkable run of individual success at the club.
The 29-year-old forward has registered an impressive 35 goals across all competitions over the last two seasons, scoring 17 in 2025 before improving his tally to 18 in 2026.
His consistency has been particularly impressive, making him only the third player in the club’s history to record at least 10 goals in two consecutive seasons, joining Piatti and former Chelsea striker Didier Drogba.
According to available 2026 statistics, Owusu also recorded 15 goals and six assists in 26 MLS appearances, underlining his importance to Montréal’s attacking setup.

His latest individual recognition further strengthens his reputation as one of the club’s most dependable performers since arriving from Toronto FC in January 2025.
Owusu initially joined Montréal ahead of the 2025 campaign and immediately made an impression, finishing his debut season with 17 goals across all competitions and earning the Giuseppe-Saputo Trophy.
His performances subsequently earned him a contract extension, with the club securing his services for the 2026 and 2027 campaigns, alongside additional contractual options.
The 2026 award represents another significant milestone in the Ghana international’s career and highlights the remarkable consistency he has brought to CF Montréal over the past two seasons.
Meanwhile, the club also recognised other outstanding performers, with Colombian defender Brayan Vera receiving the Defensive Player of the Year award, while American defender Brandan Craig claimed the Jason-Di-Tullio Trophy.
For Owusu, retaining the club’s highest individual honour is further evidence of his growing influence in North American football.
The Ghanaian forward has once again proved his importance to Montréal, delivering the goals and consistency that have made him one of the club’s standout performers.
