The City of Brampton has honoured six members of Canada’s men’s national soccer team with newly named soccer fields, with Brampton-born forward Promise David among the players recognised for their achievements and ties to the city.
The field-naming ceremony took place on Sunday, September 27, 2026, at Morris Kerbel Park, celebrating David alongside Cyle Larin, Tajon Buchanan, Jonathan Osorio, Liam Millar and Jayden Nelson.
The initiative recognises the players’ contributions to Canadian soccer while highlighting Brampton’s role in developing football talent that has progressed to the national-team level.
David, who has strong Brampton roots, has emerged as one of Canada’s prominent attacking options. His inclusion in the city’s field-naming initiative places his name permanently alongside other Brampton-connected players who have represented Canada at the highest level.
Each of the six players now has a Brampton soccer field named in his honour. David’s name was attached to the soccer field at Major Oaks Park, while Larin, Osorio, Millar, Buchanan and Nelson were similarly honoured at other facilities across the city.
The ceremony was part of Brampton’s recognition of its contribution to Canadian soccer and was designed to celebrate the players’ achievements while inspiring young athletes developing within the city’s football community.
The six players were members of Canada’s national-team setup during the country’s 2026 FIFA World Cup campaign, providing another significant backdrop to the municipal recognition.
The field naming also gives the honours a lasting community dimension. Rather than being limited to a one-day ceremony, the players’ names will remain attached to facilities used by young footballers and community teams across Brampton.
For David in particular, the recognition represents a notable connection between his Brampton roots and his progression onto Canada’s international stage.

- Jonathan Osorio Soccer Field — Morris Kerbel Park
- Liam Millar Soccer Field — Flower City Community Campus
- Tajon Buchanan Soccer Field — Bramalea Ltd. Community Park
- Jayden Nelson Soccer Field — Avondale Soccer Field
Mayor Patrick Brown also used the celebration to underline his administration’s commitment to expanding the city’s soccer facilities. With Brampton already having 191 outdoor soccer fields, alongside indoor turf facilities and the Atiba Hutchinson Soccer Court, Brown pledged to add further soccer fields as the city continues to invest in the sport and respond to demand from its growing football community.
The Brampton initiative ultimately links the achievements of six Canadian internationals with the community football infrastructure through which future generations of players will continue their own journeys.
