Eberechi Eze has delivered a defiant message ahead of his side’s UEFA Champions League showdown with Sporting CP, insisting external criticism and media narratives will have no bearing on his performance.
Speaking during his pre-match press conference, the England international emphasised experience, professionalism, and self-belief as key to his approach on the pitch. “I’ve experienced football for long enough to know how to carry myself and operate and be the best version of myself,” Eze said.
With the spotlight intensifying ahead of the European fixture, Eze made it clear that he remains focused solely on his responsibilities rather than outside opinions. “A lot of that is, to be honest, not caring what you guys [media] talk about and just doing what I do,” he added.
The attacking midfielder’s comments reflect a player growing in maturity and confidence, particularly on the Champions League stage where scrutiny is at its peak. Eze underlined that performance, not perception, defines his role. “I am professional and the one who plays. Everyone has an opinion and thinks they know what is right.”
His stance comes as his team prepares for a crucial encounter, with a narrow 1-0 advantage, against Sporting CP, a side known for tactical discipline and intensity in European competition. With pressure mounting and expectations rising, Eze’s mindset signals a dressing room determined to stay internally focused.
As the Champions League knockout rounds demand composure and clarity, Eze’s message is unequivocal: ignore the noise, trust the process, and deliver on the pitch.
