Joseph Paintsil made an instant impact on his return from injury, scoring and assisting as LA Galaxy fought back from two goals down to earn a 2–2 draw against FC Dallas in a pulsating Major League Soccer clash in Frisco, Texas.
Dallas looked in complete control early on, with Petar Musa striking twice to hand the hosts a commanding lead. The forward opened the scoring in the 7th minute with a clinical finish before doubling the advantage in the 38th minute, converting after assists from Christian Cappis and Logan Farrington. (
But the game shifted dramatically before halftime, led by Paintsil’s energy and directness on his return after six weeks out injured. The Ghanaian winger first turned provider in the 43rd minute, combining with Justin Haak to set up Lucas Sanabria, who pulled one back to ignite the comeback.
Moments later, Paintsil completed the turnaround in momentum. Deep into first-half stoppage time, he latched onto a move involving Gabriel Pec and Mauricio Cuevas before finishing decisively to level the score at 2–2.
The second half saw both sides push for a winner, but defenses held firm. Dallas goalkeeper Michael Collodi produced key saves, while Galaxy’s JT Marcinkowski matched him at the other end to ensure the points were shared.
For Paintsil, the performance marked a significant return—not just statistically, but in influence. After weeks on the sidelines, he immediately reasserted himself as a central attacking force, directly involved in both goals during a crucial spell that rescued a point for the Galaxy.
The result leaves both sides with work to do early in the MLS season, but for LA Galaxy, the biggest takeaway was clear: their dynamic winger is back, and already decisive.
