Sevilla FC claimed a crucial 2-1 victory over Atlético Madrid at the Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán Stadium, with Akor Adams opening the scoring in a statement performance for the hosts.
Sevilla took the lead in the first half when Adams found the net, marking his first goal under manager Luis García and setting the tone for a confident display.
Atlético Madrid responded through Antoine Griezmann, who brought the visitors level with a composed finish after sustained pressure, ensuring the contest remained finely balanced heading into the latter stages.
The decisive moment came late in the match when Youssef En-Nesyri struck to restore Sevilla’s lead, capitalizing on a defensive lapse to seal all three points for the home side.
Sevilla showed resilience throughout, particularly in the closing stages, as Atlético pushed for an equaliser. Goalkeeper Marko Dmitrović produced key saves to preserve the advantage and secure an important win.
The victory marks a positive step for Sevilla as they continue to build momentum, while Atlético Madrid were left to rue missed chances in a match where they enjoyed spells of dominance but lacked cutting edge in front of goal.
For Adams, the goal further underlines his growing importance to the team, taking his tally to eight league goals in 26 appearances this season.
The result strengthens Sevilla’s position as they push for a strong finish in La Liga, while Atlético Madrid face increased pressure in their pursuit of their season objectives.
