Nigeria international Tolu Arokokodare has firmly denied reports questioning his professionalism amid growing speculation over his future at Wolverhampton Wanderers, insisting his only focus remains honouring his contract and fulfilling his responsibilities at the club.
The Super Eagles striker released a strongly worded statement on Wednesday after widespread media reports alleged he was involved in a confrontation at Wolves’ Compton Park training base during an ongoing transfer dispute.
“I was very surprised and disappointed to see the media reports today, many of which are inaccurate,” Arokokodare wrote.
The 25-year-old stressed that throughout his career he has maintained the highest professional standards and rejected suggestions that he had acted improperly.
“Throughout my career, I have always taken great pride in conducting myself professionally and maintaining the highest training standards.
“My commitment has always been to prepare myself as well as possible so that I can contribute to my teammates and the club whenever I am called upon.”
The Nigerian forward concluded by reiterating his commitment to Wolves despite the uncertainty surrounding his future.
“I remain under contract with Wolves, and my only intention is to fulfil my responsibilities professionally by training, doing my job, and contributing to the team in accordance with that contract.”
Arokokodare’s statement came after several British media outlets reported that Wolves’ preparations had been disrupted following an alleged disagreement between the striker and club officials over his proposed transfer. Reports claimed a first-team training session was cancelled after the player allegedly refused to leave the training pitch during a dispute over his future.
According to reports from The Times, Wolves have rejected interest from Italian side Fiorentina while accepting an offer from Turkish club Trabzonspor, with Arokokodare reportedly favouring a move to Serie A instead.
Australian broadcaster ABC, citing Reuters, also reported that the striker denied the allegations through his social media statement after claims that he had protested during training.
Neither Wolverhampton Wanderers nor manager César Peixoto had issued an official response to Arokokodare’s statement at the time of publication.
The Nigerian striker joined Wolves from Belgian club Genk in 2025 and remains under contract despite increasing speculation linking him with a move away from Molineux this summer. While transfer discussions continue, Arokokodare has made it clear that he intends to continue acting professionally unless an agreement is reached between all parties.
