AS FAR Take First-Leg Advantage with 2-0 Derby Win Over RS Berkane in CAF Champions League Semi-Final

AS FAR delivered a disciplined and clinical performance to defeat RS Berkane 2-0 in an all-Moroccan CAF Champions League semi-final first leg at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat, taking a crucial step toward the continental final.

The victory was built on two second-half goals from Ahmed Hammoudan and Khalid Ait Ourkhan, as the hosts capitalised on their dominance after a tense, goalless first half.

The opening 45 minutes were tightly contested, with both AS FAR and RS Berkane prioritising defensive organisation over risk-taking. Clear chances were limited as neither side managed to break through before the interval.

AS FAR increased the tempo after the restart and found the breakthrough in the 58th minute when Ahmed Hammoudan reacted quickest to a loose ball inside the box, firing home to put the hosts ahead.

The goal shifted momentum firmly in AS FAR’s favour, forcing RS Berkane deeper as they struggled to respond.

The pressure told again late in the match when substitute Khalid Ait Ourkhan doubled the lead in the 79th–80th minute, finishing a low effort from the edge of the area after a defensive lapse.

That second goal effectively sealed a commanding home win and gave AS FAR a two-goal cushion heading into the return leg in Berkane.

RS Berkane now face a difficult challenge in the second leg, needing to overturn a 2-0 deficit on home soil to keep their Champions League final hopes alive.
