In response to widespread criticism over high ticket prices for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, FIFA has announced a new affordable ticket category—the “Supporter Entry Tier”—priced at $60 for each of the tournament’s 104 matches, including the final.

This initiative aims to make attending matches more accessible for loyal fans of qualified national teams. Each Participating Member Association (PMA) will receive an allocation of these tickets, amounting to 10% of their total ticket allotment. PMAs are responsible for defining eligibility criteria and distributing these tickets to dedicated supporters.

The announcement follows significant backlash from fans and organizations over the initial ticket pricing strategy, which included dynamic pricing models leading to exorbitant costs for many matches. Critics argued that the pricing was prohibitive and did not consider the financial realities of average supporters.

In addition to the new pricing tier, FIFA has received over 20 million ticket requests during the current sales phase, indicating strong global interest in the tournament. Fans whose teams do not advance past the group stage will have administrative fees waived when refunds are processed for unsuccessful applications.

The 2026 FIFA World Cup, set to be co-hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico, will feature an expanded format with 48 teams competing from June 11 to July 19, 2026. The introduction of the “Supporter Entry Tier” is part of FIFA’s efforts to address fan concerns and ensure broader accessibility to the tournament.
