Erling Haaland has showered Manchester City teammate Elliot Anderson with praise after the midfielder delivered an impressive performance in City’s 3–2 Champions League victory over RB Leipzig.
Anderson provided the assist for Haaland’s decisive goal, capping a commanding midfield display that further underlined his strong start to life at the Etihad Stadium.
Speaking after the encounter, Haaland described the England international as “amazing”, highlighting the challenges new signings face when adapting to a new club, teammates and coaching staff.
“He’s had an amazing start to his City career and that’s what you kind of expect. And it’s not easy,” Haaland said.
“Normally you need time to adapt and everything, to get to know your teammates and with the new coach as well, even for us.
“He’s been impressive. Respect.”
Anderson’s contribution extended beyond the match-winning assist. According to Manchester City’s official match report, the midfielder recorded 102 touches, won 10 ground duels, made seven tackles and registered seven recoveries.
Haaland’s late finish secured the victory for City after Leipzig had twice drawn level, with the Norwegian striker praising Anderson’s immediate impact despite the demands of settling into a new environment.
The endorsement adds to the growing recognition of Anderson’s influence in Manchester City’s midfield following his summer arrival from Nottingham Forest.
