MOROCCO BOSS JOKES ABOUT ANCELOTTI’S “SECRETS” BUT VOWS BRAZIL WILL NOT DIM ATLAS LIONS’ AMBITION

Morocco head coach Mohamed Ouahbi has struck a confident and light-hearted tone ahead of his side’s highly anticipated World Cup showdown with Brazil, joking that years spent studying Carlo Ancelotti’s methods may give him an advantage against one of football’s most decorated managers.

Speaking before the Group-stage clash, Ouahbi praised Brazil’s new coach as one of the greatest minds in the game but insisted Morocco will approach the contest with belief and ambition rather than intimidation.

“Carlo Ancelotti is a great coach. I’ve read all his books. Maybe I’ll have an upper hand because I know all his secrets!”

The remark drew smiles, but the message behind it was serious. Morocco’s coach made it clear that while Brazil’s pedigree commands respect, the Atlas Lions have no intention of abandoning the confidence that has transformed them into one of international football’s most respected emerging powers

“It’s Brazil, they deserve respect. It’s a prestigious match, but that takes nothing away from our ambition.”

The encounter pits two nations carrying significant expectations into the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Brazil arrive as five-time world champions and perennial contenders, while Morocco continue to build on the momentum generated by their historic run to the semi-finals of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

Ouahbi has consistently emphasized that Morocco should no longer be viewed merely as underdogs capable of causing occasional upsets. Instead, he believes the Atlas Lions have earned the right to compete with the world’s elite on equal terms.

That confidence has been echoed throughout the Moroccan camp. Captain Achraf Hakimi recently declared that his team would “die on the pitch” for their country and described Morocco as the “Brazil of Africa,” underlining the belief and unity that have become hallmarks of the national side.

The challenge awaiting Morocco, however, is considerable. Brazil’s squad is packed with world-class talent, and the arrival of Carlo Ancelotti has only heightened expectations that the Seleção can add a sixth World Cup title to their illustrious history.

Ouahbi acknowledged Brazil’s status but stressed that reputation alone will not determine the outcome.
