Trabzonspor secured an important 3-1 victory over Fatih Karagümrük on Friday night in the 24th week of the Turkish Süper Liga, with Nigerian internationals Paul Onuachu and Chibuike Nwaiwu starring in a dynamic attacking display at Papara Park.
Trabzonspor took the lead in the 20th minute, when towering striker Paul Onuachu rose to meet a well-placed cross and powered a header beyond the goalkeeper to make it.
However, visitors Fatih Karagümrük responded shortly after, with Daniele Verde slotting home in the 28th minute to level proceedings, taking the score into halftime at 1-1
The second half belonged to defenders turned goalscorers, especially Nwaiwu. Just two minutes after the restart, Chibuike Nwaiwu rose highest from a set-piece to head home and put Trabzonspor back in front in the 47th minute.
Three minutes later, Onuachu provided a pinpoint assist from a corner that saw Nwaiwu again power a header into the net for his second goal of the night, completing a decisive 3-1 lead for the Black Sea side.
Chibuike Nwaiwu, the Nigerian centre-back scored his first two Süper Lig goals in convincing fashion, both coming from headers at crucial moments and underlining his aerial threat and adaptability after joining from Wolfsberger in January.
