Thierry Henry Criticizes Mo Salah’s Outbursts: “You Protect the Club — Always”

Arsenal legend and former France international Thierry Henry has weighed in on the controversy surrounding Mohamed Salah’s recent public outbursts, offering a sharp rebuke of the Liverpool star’s decision to air grievances about his treatment by manager Arne Slot.

In a candid commentary, Henry said:
“I had problems with Wenger, with Guardiola… Have you ever heard me talk about it publicly? NEVER. I protected the club.”

Salah, who has been benched in Liverpool’s last three league matches, caused a stir by claiming he was being “thrown under the bus” — comments that have since fueled rumors of internal division and even led to his exclusion from the squad for the Champions League clash against Inter Milan.

Henry acknowledged Salah’s frustration but insisted that professionalism should come first.
“When you play for a club, you must protect it at all costs,” Henry stressed. “No matter what’s happening internally, you protect the club — your teammates, the manager, the staff.”

The former Barcelona and Juventus forward, no stranger to elite dressing rooms, emphasized the importance of timing and discretion.
“You can be angry, frustrated, disagree… but you don’t air dirty laundry in public, especially when the club is going through difficult moments.”

Henry continued:
“Instead, you wait, you sort things out internally, and then, if you want to leave or speak your mind, you do it at the right time.”

While expressing empathy, Henry concluded with a note of leadership and accountability:
*“I understand the ego and Mo’s frustration… He scores 38 goals and ends up on the bench, but there comes a point where you must put the team before yourself.”
