Tochukwu Nnadi Completes Marseille Move in €6M Deadline-Day Transfer

French Ligue 1 club Olympique de Marseille have confirmed the signing of Nigerian midfielder Tochukwu Nnadi from Belgian side Zulte Waregem, marking a significant boost to their squad ahead of the crucial second half of the season.

The 22-year-old defensive midfielder has joined Marseille on a permanent deal worth around €6 million with the transfer officially agreed on deadline day. Nnadi is expected to undergo a medical and complete the remaining formalities in the coming hours.

Marseille have acted quickly to secure Nnadi’s signature after weeks of speculation, beating off interest from several European clubs, including English Premier League sides. The move is part of the French giants’ broader strategy to reinforce their midfield as they aim to challenge Paris Saint-Germain in the Ligue 1 title race.

Nnadi began his professional career with Bulgarian side Botev Plovdiv before moving to Zulte Waregem in January 2024. His impressive performances in the Belgian top flight drew attention from scouts across Europe and earned him his first senior call-up to the Nigeria Super Eagles’ for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.

Speaking upon his arrival in France, Nnadi expressed excitement about his new chapter, saying he is “happy to be here,” and that he intends “to play football and fight for the team.”
