Nigerian forward Peter Olayinka has completed his move to Saudi Arabian club Al Wehda, joining the former top-flight side on a free transfer after leaving Cypriot outfit APOEL Nicosia.
Al Wehda officially confirmed the signing on Thursday, stating that its board had completed the formal procedures for the arrival of the Nigerian attacker from APOEL on a free transfer. The club said the signing was made following a recommendation from its technical staff to strengthen the attack ahead of the new season.
The move brings Olayinka to Saudi Arabia after a brief spell with APOEL, where he made 14 league appearances and scored twice. He had previously enjoyed successful periods in European football, particularly with Slavia Prague and Red Star Belgrade.
At Slavia Prague, Olayinka established himself as a key attacking player and won multiple domestic honours, while his time at Red Star also produced significant silverware. Al Wehda’s official statement highlighted his experience in European competitions, including the UEFA Champions League, Europa League and Conference League.
The 30-year-old now begins his first professional chapter in Saudi Arabia with Al Wehda, where his experience and versatility are expected to add depth to the club’s attacking options.
